NEW YORK – Breakthrough Genomics is growing its workforce in anticipation of an updated version of its artificial intelligence-driven Virtual Geneticist genome analysis platform, which the company hopes to launch towards the end of summer. “We want to make it easier and faster for pharma to build their drug pipelines,” said Laura Li, cofounder and CEO of Breakthrough Genomics. The first version of the platform, launched in 2024, mainly focused on analyzing only genomic and transcriptomic data. Li said that the updated version includes an agentic AI component that enables analysis across electronic health records (EHRs), drug databases, and genomic data. “Genomic information is highly relevant to many healthcare decisions, but today it is often [siloed] in testing labs, separate from the broader clinical context,” she said.
